Your First Lesson: From The Charleston to a Complete Game
Your first lesson isn't just theory. We open the tiles and get right into gameplay.
The Tiles
Learn to distinguish Craks, Bams, and Dots, plus the Winds, Dragons, and the critical role of the 8 Jokers and 8 Flower tiles.
The Charleston
We walk through the mandatory tile-passing ritual that opens every American Mahjong game — the 'Right, Across, Left' sequence and the strategy behind what to pass.
Reading the Card
The NMJL card can be intimidating. I use a simple method to help you scan it and quickly identify a promising direction for your hand.
Guided Play
After about 30 minutes of instruction, we play. I guide the group through two full games, with feedback on discards, defensive plays, and Joker usage.

I exclusively teach American Mahjong according to the current year's National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card and rules — the most common variant played in the U.S.
No — I provide everything needed for play: 152-tile sets, racks with pushers, dice, and mats. You just need a place to play and your guests.
Lessons are held at the location of your choice throughout the Las Vegas Valley — your home, hotel suite, or community clubhouse.
No prior experience is necessary. Most of my clients are brand new to the game. My step-by-step process is designed for absolute beginners.
A minimum of 4 players for a private lesson, with up to 6 (single table) or 10 (double table) able to rotate in.
Deposits may be applied as lesson credit if rescheduled 14+ days in advance; the rescheduled lesson must take place within 30 days.
